Arguably, a Unimog is one of the most recognisable truck shapes in the world and has gained cult status over its more than 75 year history as powerhouse amongst utilitarian vehicles.
In our niche, a Unimog based expedition truck is as much a lifestyle statement as it is a testimony of appreciating the extreme capabilities of the ‘UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät’.
Some people refer affectionately to their Unimog simply as ‘Mog’, ‘Möggli’ … we are sure you heard more variations, and the #unimoglove hashtag on social media counts thousands of entries. Mercedes-Benz even dedicates social media accounts for an enthusiastic and ever growing audience,
take a look and become a part of #unimogcommunity.
In 2020, KRUG EXPEDITION ushered in the next phase of building the ultimate Unimog expedition truck with Germany based Hellgeth Engineering, and we would like to take you on a ride into the realms of this unique Thüringen based specialty-truck construction company.
Hellgeth is run by brothers Andreas Hellgeth, the project manager, and Jürgen Hellgeth, the engineer. Both have decades of know-how under their belt and could be dubbed as the ultimate Unimog experts.
Another instrumental person at Hellgeth is Jörg Bareuther.
He is a true legend in the community, someone who largely might not need an introduction.
We were lucky to do a quick Q+A with Jörg about his coming of age at Hellgeth and the latest around all things Unimog expedition trucks.
